Travel & Stay Guide
Our big celebration is going to be in the beautiful seaside town of Armação dos Búzios, which sits a couple of hours outside of the city of Rio de Janeiro (the state capital).
Our recommendation for all our amazing gringo pals is to fly into Rio and experience the magic city for yourself for a few days. From there getting to Búzios is a fairly straightforward coach journey. Below you will find all details you need but please if you need contact us, we will be more than happy to help!

Getting there
RIO DE JANEIRO

To get to Rio de Janeiro the easiest way would be to fly into the international airport Galeão (GIG).
Unfortunately there are no direct flights from Ireland yet but you do have some options via:

Our main tip for this would be to just dive right into Google Flights and see what you can find.

Getting to Búzios from Rio de Janeiro is usually a case of getting one of the many daily coaches from either the airport or city centre. Our travel agency partner below will also be running transfers so feel free to contact Luiz if you wish to avail of that.
Alternatively if you are in a large group you could organise a minibus - although to save the hassle we would recommend contacting Luiz.​

Where to stay
RIO DE JANEIRO
​
In Rio de Janeiro our main advice would be to make sure to research where you are planning on booking before you do - TripAdvisor or booking.com reviews for example.
​
In terms of tourist activities, staying nearby Copacabana would be ideal. From there, there are plenty of tours to various activities and you are also a walking distance to Ipanema and Leblon beaches.
Our recommended travel agent also has two hotels in his packages just off Copacabana beach.

ARMAÇÃO DOS BÚZIOS
​
Our wedding will be in a lovely villa called CasAmar. The villa is a 20 minute Uber from the town centre but Búzios has loads of options either nearby the venue or in the town where there's more happening! In either case on the day of the wedding we will be running a shuttle bus to and from.
​
If you're up for a party and want to stay nearer all the bars and restaurants we strongly recommend being near Rua das Pedras. From there, everything nearby is walk-able and it's a lovely little cobblestone town. The travel agency also included three different options here if you would like to contact them.

Getting around
Getting around Rio de Janeiro and Búzios is pretty easy. Uber is omnipresent and if you don't have an account already we suggest making one before you get there! Búzios (especially all around Rua das Pedras) is safe to walk around at night and you'll see loads of people doing the same but Rio is definitely not - get an Uber anywhere at nighttime in Rio!
Travel Packages
For those who would prefer to leave the hassle of organisation to the professionals, we kindly received three packages from Ana's long-time family friend Luiz Oliveira who has his own travel agency Nascente Turismo. Luiz has been in the business for years so you can be confident in being looked after.
